Just 3 Things

Five PAX wasting no time this morning in the perfect 60 degree weather.

Date of Beatdown:

Name-O-Rama:
Goldberg, Grasspatch, Wonton, Postal, & Good Cents (QIC)

Warm-Up-Gig:
One-Minute Warning, Welcome, Disclaimer, and Count

I stated this morning’s beatdown would consist primarily of only three exercises, just as our Circle Of Trust Bible Scripture would also have three focal principles. These exercises would be simple well-known movements, but may be difficult to do at times. Our Bible verse would also consist of three familiar qualities that we may find challenging as we go through life.

The Thang That Surely Happened:
Our warm-up consisted of bolting out of the high school parking lot and down 9th Ave Ext onto the Hwy 501 Overpass. We continued for almost two miles until reaching our midpoint, Gum Street, and backtracked to the shovel flag. We periodically stopped for merkins and sit-ups. Our first stop consisted of only ten merkins and ten sit-ups to get loose. However, each time we paused we increased the count by ten, to twenty, then thirty, etc…you get the point. Each Pax took their turn leading the cadence. Everyone did a great job leading and the mumblechatter throughout the morning was awesome as well. At our last station of 50, Grasspatch made the “comment of the day” when describing the beatdown - SOLID. It wasn’t so much what he said, but how he said it that made the entire PAX erupt into laughter. We ran over a 5K with 150 merkins and 150 big boy sit-ups sprinkled throughout to keep things interesting. We capped things off with a 200 yard dash to empty the tank. That’s when Merlot time began. Goldberg started calling for someone named ROY. He must have driven a BUICK because he kept saying something about that too. On a serious note, a huge shout out goes to Goldberg for frequently posting at The Anvil Saturday Beatdowns. As time was expiring, we headed over to the shovel flag for some cool down stretches and announcements. Apparently we were becoming delirious and our words were coming out all jumbled up when trying to make announcements.

Circle of Trust:
Prayer Requests – Devotion – Closing Prayer

The scripture for today was Micah 6:8 “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”

We did three primary exercises this morning: (1) merkins (2) sit-ups (3) ran.
Likewise, our verse expressed three attributes pleasing to God: (1) do justly (2) love mercy (3) walk humbly with thy God.

These three basic exercises are uncommon to no F3 HIM. Yet have we not found ourselves at times, when we’ve felt we have reached our limit, these to be inconceivable to continue? In like manner, we at times make failing attempts of these requirements of our Lord.

Let’s perform a self-examination.

“do justly” – to be fair and honest, not harmful to others, doing right

“love mercy” – to LOVE forgiving others with total compassion. (Thank God for being merciful to us!)

“walk humbly with thy God” – to realize how broken and inefficient we are apart from our Savior.

We should never be highminded, but give Christ all glory and honor. “With” is also a key word here. When we walk apart from God we tread in dangerous territory.

I must be clear. We are saved through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not by obedience of any mandate. However, as true Christians, we are privileged to allow the Holy Spirit to work through us by walking in a just, merciful, and humble manner.

It was a blessing to lead these men this morning.
